The live conditions above show a dry start over much of England, with cloud thickening from the west as a weak front pushes rain into Northern Ireland and western Scotland by midday; temperatures remain mild for late autumn, reaching 12–14°C in most cities.
What is driving the weather today?
A shallow area of low pressure sitting west of Ireland is steering moisture across the British Isles. This means a largely cloudy day for England, with the best of any brightness in East Anglia and the southeast. For weather London and weather Canary Wharf, expect dry but overcast conditions until the evening, when light drizzle may reach the capital. Weather Birmingham and weather Cranfield will see similar cloud cover, with a slight chance of patchy rain by late afternoon.
How will the week develop?
Tuesday brings a return to settled conditions as high pressure builds from the Atlantic. Most regions will be dry with sunny spells, especially in eastern England. However, weather York and weather Skegness may experience a fresh breeze off the North Sea. By midweek, the next front arrives from the west, bringing more persistent rain to northern and western areas, while the south stays largely dry.
